The name of our Association – DUCoR – stands for Asociación para el Desarrollo Urbano y Comunicación Responsables, which means Association for Responsible Urban Development and Communication. Our headquarter can be found in Alicante, Region of Valencia, Spain. We are committed to promoting responsible urban and regional development through transparent and innovative communication in the Region of Valencia, Spain and in the European Union.
With our Association we would like to represent Spain on international platforms in order to work on regional development, thus creating more liveable cities and increasing the quality of life in the Region of Valencia and all over Spain. With our involvement in international projects, we could represent the interests of Spanish citizens and the country, and create value on European and international levels.
In urban areas of the Valencian Region and Spain, and all over Europe, a wide range of measures are needed to make a meaningful contribution to decreasing carbon intensity in the power and transport sectors. Using new, more efficient technologies, increasing the proportion of energy from renewable sources are clearly important - but there is no better way of reducing GHG emissions than replacing most car-journeys with near-zero emission modes like walking (or cycling, and even public transport).
The topic of transforming Valencian and Spanish cities from car-dependency to active mobility and giving back public spaces / streets to people is even more timely than before. Besides, there is still a lot to do in our cities from planning and implementing pedestrian-friendly infrastructure to influencing mobility attitudes and behaviour.
It is also a general megatrend that non-professional residents receive so much information every single day, that it is difficult for them to choose the truely valuable pieces of information. Therefore, providing Valencian and Spanish citizens with precise and authentic information is of high importance, with which we can contribute to their proper decision-making.
Our objectives:
- Promoting responsible urban and regional development, and transparent communication.
- Professionally support cities in handling the growing number of challanges (mobility, congestion, environmental pollution etc.) with developing, demonstrating, testing and dissaminating modern and innovative solutions and alternatives.
- Providing also small towns and rural areas with professional support for handling their specific issues (e.g. desolation, lask of services).
The main principle for the abovementioned activities is in each case the paradigm of responsible innovation.
We intend to realize our objectives through the implementation of the following activities in the Region of Valencia and all over Spain:
- Awareness-raising of the public and decision-makers with providing information.
- International exchange of experience about studying, preparing, implementing and supporting measures resulting in innovative, liveable, environmentally conscious and sustainable cities.
